Registration

Places will probably be available on the day but spaces are limited so it's good to book early. To help with planning, we encourage folks to register by 28th July.

Registrations are now open to anyone from the adoption community (adoptees, adoptive parents, siblings etc).  The general age range we suggest is 13+ but younger particpants will be considered with adult supervision.

We also understand many people will be attending International Day with younger kids and toddlers, so a special colouring in and craft activity area may be set up in the lecture room if demand from participants who need to bring younger kids is there. Just email us and let us know.

Applicants should send in their name, contact details (phone and email) and an optional brief personal bio no longer than 100 words including whether you are an adoptee, adoptive parent, sibling or other.

Workshop Info
  • Participants will gain instructions on how to make videos in documentary style. This includes developing practical knowledge on setting up shots, storyboarding, lighting, sound and basic post-production
  • The workshop will include a demo of short filming exercises using a mini digital camera (Flip model)
  • The participants will receive photocopied hand outs of class exercises to take home
  • The structure is a 2 to 2.5 hour workshop starting with general introductions and then people will break up into groups of 4 or 5 for practical exercises.
  • If people can bring in their own cameras that's great but not a necessity.  There will be a Flip digital camera to borrow to try out exercises.
  • The emphasis is on having fun and interacting/learning from each other with the workshop lecturer in the role of instructor and group activities facilitator, and with adult adoptees on hand to also assist with group facilitation
